Good Pub Food

Banwell

Good Pub Food - Seasons Restaurant - Banwell Winscombe North Somerset

Near to Weston super Mare, and the villages of Locking & Hutton, Banwell is at the start of the old coach road that once climbed the steep track past Banwell Castle, and then on through Winscombe, Axbridge, & Cheddar en route to Wells.

Banwell & Winscombe are on the western boundary of the North Somerset Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; seen on either side of the M5, with the distinctive shape of Crook Peak to the east of the motorway; straddling the A38 where it runs through the narrow pass by Shute Shelve Hill, at the crossroads with the A371 near Axbridge.

Eating Out in The Mendips

Banwell

Seasons Restaurant in Banwell is one of the many Somerset pub restaurants serving fine food prepared from local produce

The abundance of good fresh local produce from this area, and the Somerset, has contributed to the increase in popularity of eating out in this picturesque environment.

Famous for its cider, Scrumpy, and Cheddar Cheese - Somerset is now a centre of excellence for food, and hosts three food festival events each year, including, locally, The Mendip Food & Drink Festival to be held in October 2008.

There are a number of award winning restaurants and pub restaurants in the area, and an even greater number of ‘little gems’ deserving accolade in the countryside and quiet villages.

With over 200 eating out venues, the area offers a range of cuisines – much more than half of the styles to be found in the cities - from bars & cafés to fine dining restaurants, most tastes can be satisfied.

International Food dishes, Pizzas, Tapas, Nachos with Guacamole, Bœuf Bourguignon and so on, rank with British Food dishes such as 'Pork in Cider' and 'Somerset Apple Crumble' originating from this area. This choice of food has increased, with the introduction of many new local dishes including Somerset Beef specialities, Somerset Smoked Salmon and Smoked Trout, in addition to the availability of most other traditional good food.

Stop for lunch on your journey through Somerset, or book a table for fine dining out on a more special occasion. You will not be disappointed when eating out in this part of the country - it is well worth exploring for these Somerset restaurants for their excellent fare, and the pubs and inns for good pub food very often served to first class restaurant standards.
