Somerset Restaurants - Banwell

Somerset Restaurants - Seasons Restaurant - Banwell Winscombe North Somerset

Seasons Restaurant is conveniently situated close to junction J21 on the M5 motorway and is within easy reach of Bristol. The restaurant is an ideal venue for pre or post flight lunches or dinners, with the International Airport only 20 minutes drive away, just off the A38. The coastal resort is 5 miles away along the A371/A370 and the attractions of Cheddar Gorge and the Mendip Hills are also close by. Unlike the nearby Weston super Mare restaurants, Seasons Restaurant is literally only striding distance from the most beautiful walks in the countryside.

The new restaurant is situated in one of the local pubs in Banwell - The Whistling Duck. Banwell was once on the coach road from the coast to Wells, and at one time had seven pubs & 26 shops. Only three pubs now survive, The Bell - formerly a coaching inn, The Brewers Arms, and the Whistling Duck. The number of shops have also been reduced considerably but there is still a thriving community in Banwell supporting these pubs, and three other restaurants; Chillies - once The Anvil Restaurant, Delicious - a Chinese Takeaway & Fish & Chip Shop, and The Restaurant in Banwell Castle

Travelling towards Winscombe, Cheddar, & then onto Wells, Banwell is the first village to pass through along the A371. The village of Locking, on the Old Banwell Road, is now by-passed by the A371 which was widened during WW2 to allow aircraft to be transported to the airfield on the outskirts of the village, from a shadow factory then in situated in Elborough.

A new housing development is now located on the site of the factory in Elborough, and the airfield is now closed, but the widened A371 serves as a convenient link to the A38 from Weston, and often carries diverted traffic during motorway hold-ups.
